Thursday, October 2 is National Custodian Appreciation Day, so we want to show our appreciation for our awesome custodians here at the Stoughton Public Schools. The unsung heroes of our schools, custodians keep our buildings clean and safe, interact daily with students and faculty, and are always there to lend a helping hand. A big thank you to our custodial staff for all of their hard work in keeping our schools looking great!

October is National Principals Month, so as this month gets underway, we want to take this time to recognize our eight amazing building principals. We are so fortunate at SPS to have such a dedicated and caring group of principals! Leaders of their respective school communities, principals provide guidance and support for faculty and staff, encourage students, and engage with families. Thank you to all of our principals for the work they do in making our schools a better place each and every day!

Gibbons School 5th graders are pictured here taking part in “The Observation Challenge" as part of the Science from Scientists program. All 5th grade classrooms in each of our elementary schools will take part in engaging, hands-on lessons from professional scientists and engineers through Science from Scientists.
“The Observation Challenge" lesson challenges students’ observational skills by demonstrating the difference between observations (quantitative vs. qualitative), inferences, and opinions. Students use these skills for a mystery object challenge. Each small group carefully observes an object in a box and the group is asked to describe the object they received by writing quantitative observations, qualitative observations, and inferences. The hints are read to the class and their peers guess what object is in each box.
