"The SPS Week Ahead" compiles a list of some of the events taking place throughout the district as well as some important reminders.



Preschool Registration & Registration for Grades K-12

The pre-registration process for preschool is now open. Preschool students must be 3 or 4 years of age by August 31, 2025 and be toilet trained. Please be advised that pre-registration does not guarantee a spot in the preschool program as there are limited spots available. The pre-registration process for grades K-12 will start on Monday, March 3, 2025. For kindergarten, children must be 5 years old by August 31, 2025. Any student currently attending the Jones Early Childhood Center for preschool that will be entering kindergarten in the fall must still register for kindergarten.

Students only need to register for grades 1-12 if they do not currently attend the Stoughton Public Schools.



Fifth Grade Explorers Academy at Curry College

Attention families of SPS 5th grade students: Stoughton Public Schools and Curry College are partnering to offer an exciting three-day immersive experience over April Vacation (April 22-24, 2025) where 5th graders will explore math, science, humanities, and social-emotional learning in a college setting! Led by Curry College faculty and students, this program offers hands-on activities, engaging experiments, and a unique glimpse into college life. Stoughton Public Schools will also have staff members present as group leaders. There is no cost for students to participate in this program. Jones PTO Meeting on February 25 is Postponed

Please note that the Jones Early Childhood Center PTO announced that it needs to cancel and reschedule their meeting on Tuesday, February 25. This meeting originally was going to feature an update on the new elementary school building project and elementary redistricting. They plan to reschedule sometime in March and we will keep you posted when a new date is in place.



SHS Winter Guard Showcase on Thursday

The Stoughton High Winter Guard teams will be holding a showcase at the SHS gymnasium this Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 6:30pm. This is a great chance to see this season's show!



SHS Theatre Program's Next Production Coming This Friday, February 28

The Stoughton High School Theatre Program will be presenting Anon(ymous) on Friday, February 28, 2025 at 6pm in the SHS Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students.

This is a preview of Stoughton High's entry to the Massachusetts Educational Theatre Guild's High School Drama Festival.

Stoughton High is a preliminary round host site for the METG's Drama Festival. Eight high schools, including Stoughton, will be performing at SHS on Saturday, March 1, 2025. For more information about the festival, click here.



SHS Boys Basketball Playoff Game on Friday

The Stoughton High boys basketball team is playoff bound! The MIAA released the postseason brackets and Stoughton (10-10) is the 21st seed in the Division 2 State Tournament. The Black Knights will travel to #12 Plymouth South (16-4) on Friday, February 28 at 6pm for a Round of 32 matchup. The game will be played at the Plymouth South High School gymnasium (490 Long Pond Road, Plymouth, MA). Tickets will be available at the door for $5, or in advance through GoFan (click here).

School Committee Meeting

The Stoughton School Committee will be meeting on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at 7pm in the conference room at the SPS District Office, 31 Pierce St. An agenda for the meeting can be found here.

MPDE Educator Diversity Career Fair on March 1

We will be one of the school districts at the MPDE Educator Diversity Career Fair on Saturday, March 1, 2025. The fair takes place from 10am-2pm at Brookline High School. PowerSchool Data Breach Update

The Stoughton Public Schools Technology Department provided contact information via a secure upload of the staff and students affected by the PowerSchool data breach. PowerSchool will be reaching out to all parties affected via a third party (Experian) regarding signing up for credit monitoring. You may also refer to this link to PowerSchool for more information:

Parenting Workshop

Save the date: The Stoughton OASIS Coalition is offering a series of parent workshops, including one for elementary school families on Wednesday, March 5 from 5-7pm at the Hansen School (1800 Central St.). The topic for this workshop is healthy bedtime routines. Families from all of our elementary schools are welcome to attend, but please note that registration is required (click here to register). Light dinner and childcare will be provided. Translation services are available with advanced notice.
